Major Activities

  • Develop annual work plan according to the policy and directions of MOHP.
  • Assist to implement national policy by analyzing the available health services in the region.
  • Develop the regional level programmes taking into consideration the district level programmes and report to the central authority.
  • Conduct necessary monitoring and supervision of district level programmes and provide feedback.
  • Collect and compile monthly progress report of the health programmes from all district (public) health offices.
  • Follow up of the districts which do not send monthly progress.
  • Consult and coordinate with all private and non-governmental organizations in the region and provide support to them.
  • Monitoring and supervision of existing programs in the region.
  • Develop working relations with NGOs/INGOs and coordinate with Department of Health Services if formal agreements are to be made with the former.
  • Identify basic and refresher training needs to various level of health workers in the region and consult with relevant training centers for the arrangements of the training.
  • Prepare budget estimates in coordination with the district (public) health offices regarding the construction and repair of physical facilities.
  • Maintain personal records of the staff within the region, manage staff transfer in the region in accordance with the existing policy of MoHP.
  • Manage leave applications of all health office heads within the region (except for special leaves and study leaves).
  • Provide incentives and/or punishment to 6th and below level staff within the region as per the health service law/regulation.
  • In case of officer level staff in the region, recommend to the center for incentives/or penalties. If necessary, also recommend for transfer.
  • Maintain and update the leave record of all staff within the region.
  • Recommend for scholarships/foreign tours/observation tours etc. using the criteria set by MOHP.
  • Monitor and control the financial transaction in the district level as per need. Enforce the implementation of audit report and take action to those who do not clear their advances and financial irregularities as per the existing financial rules or recommend to the centre for necessary action.
  • Purchase essential drugs and supply to health institutions within the region through medical stores.
  • Print and distribute the forms provided by “Logistics Management Division” to district (public) health offices.
  • Appoint non- officer level technical staff in the vacant positions with the permission of Public Service Commission. Similarly, if non- officer level staff (administrative) positions remain vacant or new positions are created and if Public Service Commission transfers the authority, promote qualified staff to these vacant positions.
  • Provide administrative leadership to all health offices under the regional health directorate.
  • Monitor and supervise the health organizations under the Department of Drug Administration and Department of Ayurveda as per the authority provided by respective divisions. Send the M&E report to respective divisions.
